day 3 activity 3 The WWF: World Wildlife Fund

Kiora guys,

Today I am doing another summer learning journey about the WWF (world wildlife fund) and we had to watch one video that was linked in the summer learning journey website and I piked the video about the freshwater seals and the WWf is working hard by looking after them and building a snow back for the seals.

  1. Kia Orana Fatima,

You are right, WWF are building snow banks for Freshwater Seals. WWF is doing an important job to protect these Seal Pups from the dangers that surround them. Can you tell me exactly why they are building the snow banks? What are the snow banks for?

Remember the acitivity asks that you talk about whether WWF has been successful in protecting the Freshwater Seals. Have the snow banks helped? Once you answer these questions I may award you with full points for this activity. You got this!

Perhaps next time you could add some information about the tools they use to build these snowbanks that protect the Freshwater Seal Pups and help them survive. What do you think would happen if the WWF did not build these snow banks?

I am concerned about how little the numbers are for Freshwater Seals. It reminds me of our treasured bird, the Kakapo, who are an endangered species. Do you know of any other endangered species in Aotearoa? Let me know in the comment section below.

    Toe feiloa'i fo'i,

    Cia.
