Today the summer learning journey task was to write about something you like doing.what I like doing is swimming and going down the water slide at the pool.going down the water slide at the pool is so fun because it goes very fast here is my writing about it:

I like going down the water slide because it goes fast and it also is very cool especially when you finish because the water splashes on you and then you can have another turn but I don't really like going up the slide steps because sometimes there is too much people and you have to wait for so long but it is still fun.

Today the summer learning journey task was to imagine that New Zealand is going to sink next week (eek) and you had to write a description about how New Zealand was like in 2018 here is my description:

In New Zealand to world was  big and beautiful before it started to sink. It also had lots of people living in it. There was lots of houses but now the houses and the land is sinking there was lots of places like playgrounds for little children (kids) so that they can play on it but now that the world is sinking there is hardly anything there was lots of stores that you could bye things from there was also way more farms and you could visit a lot of farm animals.

Today I am doing some more summer laerning journey tasks and today the task was to imagine you are going to Tundra(a island) and in Tundra the temratue is 280C pat the years the temprature has changed and part of the task was imagine that you are going there before the temprature had changed and write a letter to your best freind or a family member here is my letter:

Dear mum,

This trip to Tundra is very hard because  we had to walk for very long then we took a short break and  looked at some very interesting things and we were so suprised that there was no trees after a break we carried on our journey and we  discoverd new things. Even though it was hard we still liked it a bit. the trip was fun and enjoyable. I really hope we can go to different islands and discover new things.

day 5 activity 1 Towering Timbers

Today the summer learning journey task was to write about whether you think logging (cutting down trees) should be allowed in new Zealand here is what think :

I think that logging should be allowed only if we cut 1000 trees and then recycle the papers and then we can use them again

I think logging shouldn't be allowed because:

1. trees give us oxygen and if we cut them down we will have no air to breath in

2. the animals will die because they have no home.

Today the summer learning journey task was to make your own hotel and tell other people what your hotel  looks like here is my writing about my hotel :

My hotel is made out of bricks and it is huge y hotels rooms have a TV,beds and some couches it also has a bathroom in every room. some rooms have only one bed and some rooms have 10 beds (minimum is 1 bed maximum Is 10 beds.My hotel has 100 rooms 10 rooms have 1 bed 10 rooms have 2 beds 10 rooms have 3 beds and 10 rooms have 4 beds and it goes on until it is one hundred rooms. my Hotel can fit 145 people in.

day 4 activity 2 Pancakes and Maple Syrup?

Today the summer learning journey task was to write about your favourite food and tell us how to make it so my favourite food is macaroni and cheese and this is how to make it:

1. melt butter in a  saucepan on medium heat

2. add flour,salt,pepper and mix until it is smooth for about five minutes

3. slowly add milk while mixing and mix for 5 minutes until it is smooth and bubbling

4.add cheddar cheese to the mixture and then sir until cheese is melted

today I am doing another summer learning journey and this was a math task so we had to imagine that it was our birthday and for your birthday present you got a cactus and you had to give it 3ml of water  everyday and then over a year how much millelitires will you need over a year?here is my ansewr and how I got it:

so I calculated 3mllelitires by 365 and then I got 1095 milleliters so my answer was 1095 milleliters.

Today is another day of the summer learning journey and today the task was to write if you would like to live in great barrier island to look after animals and look after them and also we had to write 3 good things aboutbeing a doc person who looks after the animals and live with them in great barreir island and then write 3 bad things about being a doc here is what I think:

I think that I would like to be a doc and live with animals because I absolutley love animals.

3 good things:

1.That I like living with animals

2.I don't have a pet and it would be an expirement of how living with animals is like.

3.I would see alot of different animals and insects.

3 bad things:

1.I will live without my family and I will miss them`

2.I might have alot of trouble with the animals because I might not now what they eat

3. they might have too noisy voices!!

I have been doing a couple of activity's from the summer learning journey  and today the activity was to make your own beast and describe it here is my description of my beast : hope you enjoy

My beast has really scary eyes that glow in the dark so that he can see properly and it has an enormous body that is covered with yucky feeling old fur that is dark black.My beast also has the ability to swim and it eats fish.When my beast walks he shakes the ground and if you put him on a scale he would break it and it will stop working because of how heavy it is!! It is a hybrid creature that is a mix of lion and tiger because its head is a lion head and the rest of the beast looks like a tiger but it is more wierd because it has different colours the head is brown and the hair is white!! the tiger part is stripy with grey and red.

 Today we had Megan (the summer learning journey teacher) and we were doing an old activity from last year to get us into it.So today the task was to write a letter to someone about you imagining being a Maori person going from the island to New Zealand.Here is my letter and I wrote it for Megan(the summer learning journey teacher) :

Dear Megan,

We have been travelling for months and we only have a bit of water and food left. As we were travelling I felt so sea sick from all the travelling and the giant waves that were going over us. We only have 2 more weeks left and we have already ran out of food and water and now we have to drink the sea salt water and without any food!! 2 weeks later we arrive to New Zealand and then we have to build our own house. We didn't have any bricks so we had to cut the trees to get some wood and build a house. and when we need water we have to go to the beach and drink salty water!!

Today this morning we went to the flying fox park. The reason is because we missed out on going to Cameron pools. We had so much fun my favourite was the swing and the flying fox I also like the  big spinning  wheel that you have to sit on and spin it with the other little wheel. we also played a game that was tag but we only had to stay on the park and I liked it too. Yesterday my group was performing the author presentation about DR Seuss. But i wasn't there so I was just giving them some feedback from the video I have watched I thought they were pretty good but they weren't speaking clearly and I couldn't really hear them. In my group were : Ina,Rhia and mose. we worked very hard on making the presentation on a big piece of paper and at the end it looked amazing .The reason we were doing this was to give information about the author that got chosen for our group.  and I hope you enjoy the video and like our presentation. Aboriginal art work

Today I will be talking to you about our culture day from term 2. The culture we chose was Aboriginal Australia, for that we did some art work from Aboriginal Australia. we had some white canvas but we painted them black because we did our practise on black paper. some people got a big canvas and some people got a small canvas. we worked so hard to get this piece of art work finished perfectly for our performance in front of the whole school. We also had a lot of fun painting it.Aboriginal art has mostly some dots or spots. Aboriginal art also tells some myths and legends.The myth we had was talking about a snake and how It created the lands hills and mountains Aboriginal art also uses some symbols that have some different meanings Here is the photo of our art work:

performing our plays

Today we were performing some plays.We were doing this to practise for the movie that we are going to be making from the class novel there's a boy in the girls bathroom!! we had to use the stage directions that were given in the play script. the play script we did was called clever cats.It was about some hungry cats that looked in the rubbish bin for food.the people in my group were: Mandita,Rhia,Aliheatoa,Lillias,Gabriella and gloria. My School Bag

My School Bag

My school bag is pink and has five zips, two zips for the big pocket and one for each small pocket. My bag is a Smiggle bag and inside it, it has a special place to put my Chromebook and my charger.

On my bag there is a pink unicorn and it has a colorful love heart shaped zip. It is also decorated with all sizes of love hearts.

In my bag you can put a lot of stuff. I can put my drink bottle in it, my lunch box and anything else I need for school like stationery and my books.

 

Meet the world’s smallest horse

Today we were finding out some news from Kiwi Kids news and the news article that I have found out a article that  is called Meet the world's smallest horse.

The news article was talking about the smallest horse  he was a male horse and when he was born he was the size of the cat!!

The main message from this article is that he might be the world record of being the smallest horse. This article has been on the news so that they can let the people now about the horse.

This horse was found in Russia 

Will there be another small sized horse??

Parekowhai class assembly

Today was amazing Parekowhai (our) class  assembly and we had so much fun performing . So It was on Thursday the 8th of August at Hay park school assembly hall we did some dancing , singing and some people shared their writing about the problem with plastic,the holiday homework our teacher challenged us with and Ina sharing the slides that she did with her mum about her  island which is the cook islands we also  had so much fun and I hope you enjoy my writing about our fabulous assembly.

So we started of by waiting for every class to arrive and when they all arrived the whole school sang the national anthem.We sang it so beautifully.

Next we introduced a new song to the school which was called the wake up song we had fun doing the actions and singing.

So after that Ms Campbell handed out the certificates to the students and she talked about something and we carried on.

Then we sang a song that papa Jarod taught us.Then some people shared their writing and then we finished of our assembly with the wake up song.

My Bad habit!

Hello Bloggers,

Today I want to share with you all about bad habits . Everyone has at least one bad habit. A bad habit is something bad that you normally do like: picking your nose(and eating it!! ), eating your nails,  not washing your hands after you go to the bathroom and many others .Today I will be talking about my bad habit.

My bad habit is pulling the covers back over on me when my mother pulls it off. It really is not good behavior and attitude. I really don’t want to do that anymore so I can be good and get up early. I think the problem is because I don’t sleep early and also there is another problem with not sleeping early the problem is that I won’t be active and I’ll be lazy at school.

BUT HOW CAN I STOP WHEN I’VE ALREADY GOT THE HANG OF IT! Do you guys have some tips and tricks about how I can stop doing that bad habit? I don’t want to be lazy at school and I want to be smart at all subjects and be really really good at all of them.

Going to my science playroom

Today I am going to talk to you about 'my science playroom' that I visited in the holidays with my cousins and friends. I had so much fun exploring the place with all the scientific fun activities that included making slime! There were some cool mirrors that make you look like a duck, also there was a button where you press it and the balls fly up and another switch bubbles go up and a place where you climb and there is binoculars. There is also vacuum pipes where you put a ball in them and it flies up through them. My favourite part was making the slime!
I recommend visiting this playroom to understand how science works in our everyday lives.

Going to Inflatable world with my cousins

Today I will be talking to you about when I went to Inflatable world with my cousins.
Inflatable world is an indoor playground that has inflatable toys that are fun to play in.
At inflatable world there are lots of toys such as inflatable slides and trampolines
there is also a place to play basketball and a place where you need to put this
black plaster around you and you need to pull yourself and there is my favourite one
where you have to jump from above the floor about 2 meters on to like a soft inflatable
sticks covered with a little blanket, when I jump I feel like I am flying.

It was a fun day and I can't wait to go there again.

Today I am going to be talking about how we had mufti day and we went to Keith Hay Park with room 8 and this is me Marwah,Fatimah and Tearo play on the big spinning wheel :

when we were playing there were people pushing us really fast.we were doing a competition of not stopping or falling off the big spinning wheel.we got so dizzy and when we got off it we nearly fell down on the floor then we started pushing other people who were on it but we kept on falling down because the big spinning wheel was going faster than how we could run.

So we started off by making our plan and we had finished really early so we got to start our animations early so we were really excited to finish our animation's. when we finished we were really proud of the slides because we got to our target.our target was to get over than 200 pages/slides and we got 246 pages have a go with it and play it please give us feedback!!

There's a boy in the girl's bathroom!!!

Bonjour bloggers,

today I am going to be talking to you about the book we have been reading about witch is called there's a boy in the girl's bathroom!!it was the most funniest story I have ever heard to and the part when the boy went in the girls bathroom was when the new boy Jeff was going to Carla's (the school councillor) office to have a meeting with her about his mate Bradley who was the worst boy in the whole school. So on the way he asked a teacher the way and she said the way but he was confused  so he tried to follow the direction that the teacher gave him, but he accidentally went in the girl's bathroom and the most embarrassing thing happened, there was a girl by the sink washing her hands and she screamed out loudly THERE'S A BOY IN THE GIRL'S BATHROOM!!!!!! then Jeff quickly ran out of the girls bathroom and he said to him self :"I should have looked at the sign first". Then after a couple of days after we read that part Miss Berry (our teacher) told us to make a quiz about the story  here is mine I hope you try it.


I am really proud of this quiz that I made because I had spent a  long time doing it and I am really looking forward for some feedback.

Making the tallest marshmallow spagati towers !!

On Tuesday we were split into groups to make the tallest towers using only spagati and marshmallows it was a real challenge and it  was a really hard and our team lost but we still had a lot of fun. We made edible slime with it too!. We just played and played until it became edible slime. We lost because our tower fell down!! and we were still so happy and we just started all over again but we had no more time and we started to measure every teams tower the winning team had a really cool tower that looked like the sky tower! After we measured the towers we got to eat the marshmallows look at my team before we started our plan:

the trip to the marae !

On Friday 22nd June Hay Park School was lucky enough to go to Lynfield college marae. We had an amazing and fun time learning how to use these sticks that are called a rakau and the poi.

First of all the senior classes were buddied up with the junior classes
room 6’s class buddy was room 1.

The first thing that our class and room 1 did was taught by a girl and
two boys they told us that in the old days the moari’s used to use the
rakau for fishing.we played a game with the rakau when he says
runga we put the stick up above our head when he says ki raro which
means down we need to put the rakau down when he says iroto that
means to put the rakau in near yourself and when he says waho
that means to put it out.

Then all the girls moved over to using the poi we learned four moves
of using the poi.Here is one i will tell you about that is a bit tricky
for me it was swinging the poi and then catch it.It was really fun
going to Lynfield college and do these fun activities

Coleene's Birthday party invitation for Jeff

Hi bloggers we have been reading a class novel and it is called there's a boy in the girls bathroom it is a funny book and today I will be showing you my Colleen's birthday party invitation to Jeff fishkin that is a new boy in the school that has no friends but there is this horrible boy called Bradley Chalkers and everyone in the whole school hates him and he  became  a little bit  friends with Jeff then the girls had a fight with Bradley Chalkers because they always say hi to the boys and Bradley gets annoyed and Melinda Coleen's friend was fighting with him and she fought him she gave him a black eye and one time Jeff went to see Carla (the school councillor) and he told her that he gave Bradley a black eye and all the boys cheered for him and they all were friends they all hated Bradley and Coleen and her friends didn't know that Jeff is turning into Bradley and Bradley turned into Jeff and Coleen wanted to invite Jeff when he only had one ugly friend and now they know he has 8 friends check out my invitation that I created using google drawings:
